A new affordable 3d printer?


I´ve found this on you tube, It´s called BFB 3000 Panther, it´s made by Bitsfrombytes.

it´s based on the open source reprap fdm development.The price is about 4k usd assembled.

I´ve read that it´s about 0.1mm accurate, still I would like to know how good it is.
Actually, after a better reading on the specs, it says 1% accuracy on x and y depending on the size being printed,so, it will be 0.1mm accurate on a 10mm square part and about 1mm off on a 100mm square parts, Im wondering if the cad drawing could be scaled on x and y to compensate for the 1%.

The best thing is, there is no maintenance contract .

If anyone has one, I would like to know how well it prints.

  1. it prints like a charm, precision (theoretical is more then 0.01x0.01x0.004mm) is great, part strength depends on you but can be very strong (I use parts printed on BFB3000 and on Rapman v3.0 in production, I print both in PP, HDPE, ABS and PLA). The major advantage of this printer (bfb3000) over other variants of repraps (rapman 3.x, mendel, darwin, makerbot, shapercube...) is that it comes with 2 or 3 heads so you can print support structure using PLA and main object using ABS and then you can disolve PLA in NaOH so you get object with huge overhangs print easy :)

  3. Hey Alvaro, the BFB3000 comes pre-assembled. You order one with 1-3 heads.
    The Rapman kit comes with one head but you can buy an upgrade kit with a second head and dual head carriage. The Rapman electronics support two heads OTB so you're good there.

  5. We bought one with two heads and are getting ready to send it back. Too much warping of the ABS parts to be useful for our needs. Parts smaller than our 4"x4"x8" profile would likely be better.
    For the few parts I could make without support, building them in PLA came out quite nice.
